DEGAUSSING

Degaussing magnetic media involves subjecting it to an extremely powerful magnet to erase the data stored on the media.  For hard drives and tape media, HGH Services uses a NIST 800-88 evaluated Degausser with 9,000 gauss to help you comply with NIST 800-88 Government mandates.

When hard drives are degaussed using our machine, 100% of the data is destroyed and the hard drive is unable to be used again.

Although not necessary following degaussing, some clients prefer (or are required) to have the media physically destroyed — which we can do by shredding or incineration.
